Richard Wagner (1813-1883) : Parsifal, WWV 111
Parsifal is the last completed opera Richard Wagner composed and wrote the libretto of, from 1857 to 1882. It is based on Parzival by Wolfram von Eschenbach, a 13th-century epic poem of the Arthurian knight Parzival (Percival) and his quest for the Holy Grail.
Recorded live in 1962 at the Bayreuther Festspiele
The "golden age" of recordings was from 1955 to 1965, at the beginning of the LP and the stereo era, where pure vacuum tube amplification helped produce recordings demonstrating unparalleled fidelity and warmth, lifelike presence and illumination.
This Speakers Corner records set was remastered using pure analogue components only, from the original analogue studio tapes through to the cutting head, and was pressed with virgin vinyl at Pallas. More information under http://www.pure-analogue.com
